Cairo Coptic Church Fire Outbreak Leaves 41 Dead

A massive fire outbreak that had broken out on Sunday in a Coptic Christian church in Egypt’s capital Cairo  has left a total of 41 people dead as was reported by church officials said.

The blaze had been started for unknown reasons at the Abu Sifine church in the capital’s northwestern, working-class district of Imbaba, officials said.

Fresh reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has revealed that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has openly petitioned the Nigerian President, Muhammad Buhari while seeking for an immediate investigation of all the Nigerian state governors by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Commission, ICPC, over the alleged massive looting and mismanagement of public funds.

In a letter titled: Reviving the Economy: Our Response to Governors Prescriptions by its President, Ayuba Wabba, NLC faulted governors’ recent recommendations to revive the nation’s ailing economy.

Oil giants, ExxonMobil Corp. has announced the renewal of two deepwater leases in Nigeria for a further 20 years, becoming among the first permits to be granted under the country’s new oil and gas law.

The U.S. energy giant extended its rights over two oil blocks at a ceremony on Friday in Abuja. It also renewed production-sharing contracts with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Limited(NNPC).

The Federal Government of Nigeria has threatened to impose serious sanctions on a Chinese construction firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, over its alleged failure to meet up with the contract of providing 85 percent of rail project cost.

4 Killed As OPC, Fulani Cow Dealers Clash In Kwara

The police command in Kwara State has confirmed the killing of no fewer than four persons and dozen other who were injured at Kaara Market in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state following a clash between OPC members and Fulani cow dealers.
