HIV: New Pediatric ARV Formulated In South Africa

Five decades after the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) epidemic made its first appearance in the world, the most neglected patients remain children and teenagers. About 2 out of every 5 infected children are not aware they have the disease and of the 3 diagnosed children, only half have access to antiretroviral (ARV) drugs. According to UNICEF, Africa has recorded the highest number of kids and teenagers living with HIV. In Nigeria alone, over 20,000 children were lost to HIV in 2020. This means that every 30 minutes, a Nigerian child, between ages 0-9 died of HIV in 2020.

Buhari Okays ₦24b For Funding Of Modular Irrigation Project

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the total sum of ₦24 billion for the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for the execution of a smart modular irrigation project.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna made this disclosure on Friday after a private meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja.

The NASENI boss told State House correspondents that he was in the Villa to brief the President on the activities of the agency as well as present the agency’s financial report as requested by Buhari.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said the government will not allow the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to plunge it into another burden of borrowings.
