Pelosi’s Taiwan Trip: Stop Provoking Us, China Warns U.S.

The government of China has condemned the trip of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan in strong terms calling on Washington to stop proving them.

A statement on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York described Taiwan as ‘China’s region’.

The government stressed that Pelosi’s trip was in disregard China’s strong opposition and serious representations.

China had described it a serious violation of the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués.

Against the backdrop of the extension of the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the union on Tuesday revealed that none of its university lecturers has been paid since the union embarked on industrial action in February.

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hilliard Eta, has warned his party that the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has become an emerging paradigm that must be dealt with in next year’s poll.
