NLC Issues FG 2-Week Ultimatum To FG To End ASUU Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Lagos State chapter, on Tuesday, issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve issues with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Lagos NLC chairperson, Mrs. Agnes Sessy made this known during a protest in Ikeja

She urged the government to act or risk another #ENDSARS protest.

The NLC and other university unions took to the streets of Lagos to protest the ongoing ASUU strike on Tuesday.

About four more kidnapped Abuja-Kaduna Train passengers have been released by terrorists who kidnapped them alongside several others on Monday night. 

Three of them were released on Monday, according to a source privy to the negotiations leading to their freedom from terrorists’ den while the fourth person was released about six days ago.

The kidnap victims include Oluwatoyin Ojo, Hassan Lawan, and Pastor Ayodeji Oyewumi, while Mrs Gladys Brumen was earlier released days ago.

2023: Total Registered Voters In Lagos Soars To 7 Million

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, has revealed that statistics show that the state currently has about seven million registered voters.

Agbaje disclosed this in an interview with reporters on Monday.

According to him, if the number of  new registrants so far in the ongoing  Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is added to those in the register of voters before in the state, the number will be about seven million.

Devastating Rainstorm Destroys 330 Houses In Katsina

No fewer than 330 houses have been destroyed and three persons killed following the recent rainstorm in seven local government areas of Katsina State.

The Spokesman of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr Umar Muhammad made this disclosure in an interview with reporters on Monday in Katsina.

He disclosed that 176 houses were destroyed and three persons lost their lives in the disaster in Kankara while 154 houses destroyed in Ingawa.

He listed the five other areas to include Musawa, Kusada, Sabuwa, Batsari and Batagarawa, adding that the agency was conducting damage assessment exercise in the affected communities.

No fewer than thirty people were killed when a bus plunged into a river in central Kenya at a notorious accident blackspot, a local official confirmed on Monday.
