Kwakwanso Warns Senators Against Impeachment Moves On Buhari

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has sent a warning to members of the National Assembly to thread softly on the move by some of them to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kwakwanso sounded the note of caution shortly after paying a courtesy call on the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the Government House, Ilorin, the State capital.

The presidential hopeful said the federal lawmakers should not be in a hurry to rock the boat, though he acknowledged that ‘there are reasons to be worried about the security situation in the country.’…

Boko Haram Has Built Strong Presence Close To Abuja – Bukarti

A northern-based security expert and lawyer, Bulama Bukarti has asserted that the Boko Haram terrorist group has established a presence close to Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He made the comment while speaking on a Channels Television’s Politics Today program which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York.

Mr. Bukarti said this was the first time the terrorist group was establishing a presence in the nation’s North-Central region.

‘In the North-Central, close to Abuja, all the three factions of Boko Haram have now successfully established themselves,’ he said.

2023 Census: Some Nigerians Are Refusing To Be Counted – NPC

Ahead of next year’s census, the National Population Commission (NPC) has revealed that some Nigerians are reluctant to be counted urging them to discard their fears. 

Africa Daily News, New York reports that on Friday in Ebonyi, the NPC listed this among the challenges the commission was facing.

Federal Commissioner, Darlington Okereke gave an update on the implementation of the trial population and housing census.

The official assured that the commission would get it right during the main census.

Okereke said the training of functionaries and massive advocacy were some of the strategies adopted.

Eight people have reportedly perished in a blaze which had occurred in a 15-storey building in Moscow on Friday overnight, after a fire alarm had malfunctioned.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) which is an examination board in Nigeria has revealed that five states in the country are yet to remit their examination fees of their candidates which is worth over ₦2 billion, spanning from 2012 to date.

Prof Dantani Wushishi who is the Registrar of NECO had made this revalation in an interview with newsmen on Friday, in Lagos.

It has been reported that at least seven people have been killed in the United Arab Emirates after a barrage of unseasonable downpours had triggered flash flooding in eastern districts of the normally parched Gulf state, authorities said.

As a result of the rising spate of insecurity in the country, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has made the approval of the redeployment of some top military officers and also the  appointment of new ones as insecurity rages in Nigeria.

The appointments had been announced in a statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Thursday in Abuja.
