Sri Lankan President Finally Resigns After Fleeing

The embattled President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Friday morning submitted a letter of resignation to the speaker of the country’s parliament, a spokesperson for the speaker revealed, hours after he fled to Singapore.

This announcement has triggered jubilation in the commercial capital Colombo where protesters massed outside the presidential secretariat, defying a city-wide curfew.

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has denied ever seeking President Muhammadu Buhari’s permission to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC), over the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Osinbajo stated in a widely circulated memorandum suggesting he asked Buhari for permission to leave APC was not from him.

The memorandum which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York was dated June 24, 2022 with reference number SH/VP/605/2./0 and titled ‘Permission to resign from APC,’ listed family pressure and other reasons for the alleged decision.

The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday sent a belated message to the family of Oluwole Isaac Adetiran who is the composer of NYSC’s national anthem, 69 days after his passing.

Venerable Adetiran who was an accomplished musicologist, had kicked the bucket on the 6th of May, 2022 at the age of 75.

The Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt has finally given a verdict which ordered the South African company, MultiChoice to sublicense some of its channels to Metro Digital.

Metro Digital had sued the operators of DStv and Gotv in Nigeria, while relying on the code of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC). The NBC and the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture were co-defendants.
