UN, EU Frown At Attack On Odessa’s Port After Business Deal

António Guterres who is the United Nations Secretary-General, has openly condemned the missile strike which had been used to destroy the Ukrainian port of Odessa by Russian forces, which came one day after Kiev and Moscow had struck a deal to unblock grain exports.

The Ukrainian military had also revealed that two Russian missiles were intercepted by air defences on Saturday and two others hit the commercial port on the Black Sea. The United Nations and Turkey had helped broker the agreement amid worries about growing global food insecurity.

After the lingering conflicts in the region, some of the Chadian rebels and the political groups in the country have announced that they are resuming peace talks with the country’s military government in Qatar after they pulled out last week.

50 groups have been handing the negotiatiations for more than four months in Doha, with the aim of holding an inclusive national dialogue to pave the way for elections but a host of them withdrew from the talks on July 16, accusing the government of seeking to destabilise peace efforts.
