While reacting to their recent declaration of carrying on with the strike action, the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari slammed an ultimatum on the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu while giving him two weeks to proffer a solution to the prolonged industrial action which had been undergone by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Sources in the Presidential Villa had revealed that the Nigerian President had given the directive on Tuesday during a meeting with relevant government Ministries, Agencies, and Departments (MDAs).

Good tidings are in order for the Nigerian Naira on Tuesday as it gained against the greenback at the Investors and Exporters window while coming to exchanging at a reduced rate of ₦424.17 to the dollar.

The current figure had also represented an appreciation of 1.16 percent compared with the ₦429.12 it exchanged for the dollar on Monday. The open indicative rate closed at ₦426.20 to the dollar on Tuesday.

Dana Air Clears Air On Emergency Landing Of Aircraft In Abuja

A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday when a Dana Air Boeing 737 aircraft with the registration number (5N DNA) opted for an emergency landing in Abuja after one of its engines had developed a major fault mid-air.

The airline had also confirmed the incident in a statement which they had put out while detailing that the incident took place at about 2:52 pm.

Dana Air had also stated that all 100 passengers were unhurt and disembarked safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In a bid to further rejig their rate of financial restriction, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sector of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has on Tuesday maximised the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) up to 14 per cent from its initial 13 per cent rate.

A court in Moscow on Monday fined Google 21 billion rubles ($360 million) for not removing a number of contents concerning Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine from its space, the nation’s telecommunications regulator has disclosed. 

Roskomnadzor asserted that the Google-owned video platform YouTube had failed to block ‘false information’ on the offensive in Ukraine, ‘extremist and terrorist propaganda’ and content ‘calling on minors to participate in what was tagged unauthorised demonstrations’.
