Why We Can’t Release Dariye, Nyame Despite Pardon – NCS

Africa Daily News, New York can confirm that over two months after they were granted state pardon, 159 convicts, including a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, and a former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, have yet to be released.

The Council of State led by President Muhammadu Buhari, had on April 14 approved the pardon of the convicts, a decision which generated outcries.

Nyame is serving a 12-year jail sentence for diverting N1.64 billion during his tenure as governor of Taraba, while  Dariye is serving 10 years’ imprisonment for ₦1.126 billion fraud.

Bandits Gruesomely Murder 11 Farmers In Sokoto Community

Armed Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Saturday, in Sokoto, reportedly killed 11 farmers in the Ghandi district of Rabah Local Government Area of the state.

A source, who disclosed this, said the attackers stormed the community around 12 noon, shooting sporadically, to scare people and later killed farmers working on their farms.

Confirming the killing on Saturday, the Secretary to the District Head of Ghandi, Tukur Muhammad said they met them on their farmlands and killed them for no reason.

Alleged Trafficking: University Of Lincoln Bans Ekweremadu

The University of Lincoln has announced the banning of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu from undertaking any further duties as visiting professor after he was accused of trafficking a 15-year-old boy to the United Kingdom for organ harvesting.

Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, are currently in detention over the charges ahead of a court date on July 7.

They have both denied the trafficking charges.
