Ten Policemen Murdered In Burkina Faso Jihadist Attack

Suspected jihadists have killed no fewer than 10 police officers overnight in an attack in northern Burkina Faso near the border with Niger, security sources confirmed on Saturday.

‘An outlying gendarmerie post in Seytenga in Seno province was targeted by terrorists last night,’ a source said.

‘About 10 gendarmes (died), four others were wounded and there was major material damage,’ the source revealed, adding that the toll was provisional.

Another security source confirmed the attack, the latest in a string of bloody assaults in the landlocked Sahel state.

The UN human rights office has expressed serious concerns over the sentencing to death of a Moroccan man and two Britons by a Russian proxy court in eastern Ukraine, insisting that such trials against prisoners of war amounted to a war crime.

The UN noted that the three were part of Ukraine’s armed forces, and therefore could not be described as mercenaries.
