Reps Orders INEC To Extend CVR Exercise By 60 Days

In one of their recent sessions, the Nigerian House of Representatives at plenary has on Wednesday, mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to give an extension on the ongoing Continous Voters Registration, CVR, exercise by 60 days.

The directive followed a motion by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Benjamin Kalu who represents Bende Federal constituency of Abia State.

The House also asked INEC to deploy additional Staff and Voters Registration Machines across the country.

After two tumultous nights in the captivity of their abductors, the Anglican Bishop of Jebba Anglican Diocese, Kwara State, Rt. Rev Oluwaseun Aderogba, his wife and their driver who were recently abducted have finally regained their freedom.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed this in a statement.

Pensioners in Rivers State have finally breathed a little sigh of relief as Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor finally approved the immediate payment of outstanding gratuity, monthly pension, arrears, and death benefits of retirees in the state public service which came after persistent protests by Pensioners in the State.

A statement by the Director-General of the Rivers State Pension Board, Samuel Ijeoma said the exercise will be done in batches.

EU Acquires 110,000 Vaccine Doses To Fight Monkeypox

The European Union on Tuesday revealed that it has purchased almost 110,000 vaccine doses to help tackle the monkeypox outbreak and would share them out among the bloc’s members.

The jabs, made by Danish firm Bavarian Nordic, are currently authorised for use in the EU against smallpox, but officials say they will also work against the monkeypox virus.

‘With the agreement signed today, we ensure that member states will have access to much-needed vaccines to protect people exposed to monkeypox,’ EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides disclosed.

Two frontline members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senate Majority Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi and another Northern Senator, Adamu Aliero, have officially announced their defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The formal defections of the two APC senators from Kebbi State were conveyed in two separate letters addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and read at plenary on Tuesday

Sen. Ailero and Sen. Abdullahi represent Kebbi Central and Kebbi North Senatorial districts respectively.
