Sallah: Senate Begins Three-Week Recess

The Nigerian Senate, on Wednesday, announced the adjournment of plenary for 19 days to enable it proceed on the Sallah break.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, accordingly, announced July 19, 2022, as the resumption date.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the Senate had before embarking on the three weeks recess, forwarded the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of Mohammed Bello as Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission to the Committee on National Planning.

13 Teachers Gets New SUVs In Lagos From Sanwo-Olu

The Government of Lagos State on Wednesday unveiled a set of technology-driven modular learning spaces which is aimed at introducing an innovation to the design of a modern classroom. This was even as the State government announced the donation of SUV vehicles to 13 teachers in the state. 

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while commissioning a nine-classroom block built to replace decrepit concrete structures in Vetland Junior Grammar School, a government-owned model college in Agege Local Government Area revealed that the interactive modular classrooms were improvised using standardised reusable freight compartments known as container.

Over 14 Migrants Die As Boat Goes Up In Flames In Senegal

No fewer than 14 migrants, including Nigerians, have reportedly died following a fire incident that razed a boat in south Senegal on Wednesday.

Information reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has it that about 21 people were injured as four of them suffered second-degree burns as they embarked on a journey to Spanish Canary Islands before the boat caught fire.

The mayor of the coastal town, Kafountine in Casamance, David Diatta said that the fire incident occurred yesterday.

2023: How Delegates Refunded Money I Paid Them – APC Senator

The lawmaker representing Kwara Central district, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, has recounted how he got a refund of the cash he gave to delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the party’s primaries after he lost to his opponent.

He made this known during an interview on Channels Television which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York.

According to him, the funds given to the delegates were for logistics.

Oloriegbe is among several other members of the party in the Senate who lost their party’s ticket to seek re-election into the red chamber of the National Assembly.

In a fresh directive, the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has put out measures to fully restrained and halt the Oyo State House of Assembly from further impeachment processes which would be taken against the Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan.
