CPJ Kicks As Commonwealth Bars Journalists Covering Summit

In a fresh development, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has vetted out an open warning to the Commonwealth Secretariat to ensure that all journalists can freely cover the upcoming summit in Rwanda as regards to the earlier warning to bar journalists.

The central institution of the Commonwealth of Nations is an organisation which has been tasked with coordinating activities and support for members.

CPJ has also warned the agency not to allow the press accreditation process for attendance to be used as a political tool.

Agony As Auto Crash Kills Seven, Injures Five In Kogi

The Kogi State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps on Saturday confirmed the death of seven people while five persons were injured when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision along the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.

The Kogi Sector Commander of FRSC, Stephen Dawulung, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lokoja.

According to the FRSC commander, the incident occurred on Friday, when a Toyota Hiace bus had a head-on collision with a DAF Articulated Vehicle at Akpanya, near Koton Karfe, on Abuja-Lokoja Road.
