Bandits and other acts of banditry would be having it tough in Zamfara State now as anyone who is found guilty of banditry and other related offences in Zamfara will henceforth be facing death sentence, according to a new law which came into effect in the state on Tuesday.

The Zamafra State Governor, Bello Matawalle had also signed the bill titled Prohibition and Punishment for Banditry, Cattle Rustling, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Incidental Offences, 2022 passed by the state legislature into law on Tuesday.

131 Nigerians Repatriated From Libya Land In MMIA

Reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York have revealed that the fresh batch of 131 Nigerians who were repatriated from Libya as illegal migrants have arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The stranded migrants had been received by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye who is the NEMA’s acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office has announced that the Nigerians arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 7:20 p.m.

In a fresh directive, the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has put out measures to fully restrained and halt the Oyo State House of Assembly from further impeachment processes which would be taken against the Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan.

The court  had been presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola gave this order on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s Minister of State Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva, has revealed that the federal government has issued Petroleum Prospecting Licences (PPL) for 87 marginal oil fields in about 23 years.

As part of measures to tackle insecurity, Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has approved the death penalty for bandits, kidnapper among several others.

The governor appended his signature to the law on Tuesday in Gusau, shortly after the House of Assembly recommended the death penalty for criminal elements.
