U.S. Vows To Defend, Strengthen International Law

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has vowed to defend and strengthen international laws, agreements, principles, and institutions that are aimed at maintaining peace and security for all countries.

In a speech Blinken made to The George Washington University, Washington, D.C said the U.S would maintain good relationship with China, adding that the relationship will protect the rights of individuals and sovereign nations.

He observed that China is a global power with extraordinary reach, influence and ambition.

The Coalition of Northern Groups has issued a warning against the ongoing seizure and destruction of Okada motorcycles which was ordered by the Lagos State Government, claiming that the action targets northern operators and therefore was ‘completely unacceptable’.

The CNG in a statement by its Spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, which was made available to Africa Daily News, New York pointed out that it was “rash, irrational, insensitive and wicked” that the Lagos State Government would in just 72 hours of announcing the ban, seize and subject 7,548 bikes, mostly owned and operated by northerners to the crusher.

A former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, on Monday night, announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary citing personal reasons.

Nnamani, at a press briefing on Monday in Abuja which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York, revealed that his decision stemmed from the fact that the South-East was relegated to the background after an agreed sharing formula of APC offices.

Nigerian pop star, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, was on Monday declared the winner of the PDP primary rerun for the Eti-Osa constituency House of Representatives ticket in the 2023 general election after last week’s overturning of his victory.

The police in Ondo State has disclosed that no fewer than three unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) have been recovered from the scene of the Owo church attack where gunmen killed several worshipers on Sunday.
