FIFA Slams Sanctions On Nigeria Over Abuja Stadium Violence

World soccer ruling body, FIFA, has announced that it had imposed a 150,000 Swiss Franc fine on Nigeria following the unruly behaviour of her fans at the end of the second leg Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off between the Super Eagles and Black Stars of Ghana which was held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on March 29.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the fine is about $154,128.75 or ₦63,992,404 in Nigerian Naira.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on Nigerians to embark on a three days prayers for Nigeria to seek spiritual help for the troubled country.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday tweeted for the first time since the lifting of the ban on Twitter earlier in the year.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the Nigerian Government had, in June 2020, imposed a ban on Twitter, a decision which sparked protests from Nigerians.

3 Storey Building: ‘I Gave Tenants Quit Notice’ – Caretaker

The landlord’s son in whose care the collapsed three–storey building was entrusted said that he gave the occupants of the building quit notice when he discovered the visible stress on it.

The caretaker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told emergency responders and newsmen on Monday in Lagos that he was living in the building with other occupants when he noticed signs of distress.

Association for Public Policy Analysis,  a civil society group, has appealed to the Federal Government to implement the “Eligible Customer Regulation” to ensure constant electricity supply.

Mr Princewill Okorie, National President, Association for Public Policy Analysis made the appeal in Abuja on Monday.

The Eligible Customer regulation permits  Electricity  Generation Companies (GenCos) to sell electricity directly to Customers” whose consumption is more than two megawatts/hour over the course of one month.
