Ex-Rwandan Official Arraigned In France Over Role In Genocide

Former Rwandan official by name, Laurent Bucyibaruta has gone on for trial in France for his alleged role in the 1994 genocide where more than 800,000 people, mostly ethnic Tutsis, were killed by Hutu militias.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Mr Bucyibaruta is one of the most senior figures to face court in France, where activists have long campaigned for him to stand trial for his past actions.

The 78-year-old man is standing trial on charges of genocide, complicity in genocide and complicity in crimes against humanity.

Pope Postpones Trip To Lebanon Over Health Concerns

Pope Francis has postponed a trip to Lebanon which was initially scheduled for June over health concerns, Lebanon’s tourism minister Walid Nassar confirmed Monday.

Nassar however did not provide further details on the ‘health reasons’ behind the postponement, but the pope who has suffered from pain in his knee was seen using a wheelchair for the first time at a public event Thursday.

The President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Monday joined the 2023 Presidential race after picking the All Progressives Congress form at N100 million Naira.

According to reports, Lawan’s friends purchased the All Progressives Congress, APC, nomination forms at the International Conference Centre, ICC in a mini ceremony.

74 Year Old Nabbed For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of Minor

In his waterloo, a 74-year-old man, Bassey Inyang, was nabbed and handed over to the police by his community for alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Calabar.
