Biden Vows To Militarily Confront China If Taiwan Is Invaded

The President of the United States, Joe Biden has warned that China was ‘flirting with danger’ while vowing that the United States would defend Taiwan militarily if Beijing invades it as being speculated.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that this is the second time in eight months he has made that vow.

‘That’s the commitment we made,’ he said when asked if Washington would intervene militarily against an attempt to forcibly take control of self-ruled Taiwan, which Beijing considers a renegade province to be unified with the mainland.

2023 Presidency: Emefiele Withdraws Case Against INEC, Malami

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has withdrawn the suit he filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation over his presidential ambition.

Emefiele, through his counsel, S.T. Maliki, told Justice Ahmed Mohammed that a notice of discontinuance had been filed and served on the defendants in the matter.

The development occurred shortly after the matter was called.

Maliki, who held the brief of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, said though the matter was scheduled for the mention, they had Emefiele’s instruction to withdraw the suit.

A former House of Representatives member and Governorship Aspirant in Anambra State, Chuma Nzeribe was on Monday in Abuja convicted in the 4- count criminal charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The former federal lawmaker was convicted by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT in Abuja on impersonation, possession of Federal Government documents, and using same to fraudulently acquired at Maitama, Abuja.

Nzeribe could, however, not be sentenced to prison following his absence in court when the judgment on the criminal charges against him was delivered.

OPC Charges Buhari To Apologise To Shagari, Awolowo

As strategic alliances and counter-alliances take place for the race for 2023, the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has beckoned on  President Muhammadu Buhari to openly tender a posthumous apology to the late former President Shehu Shagari, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and all Second Republic political actors who were charged and jailed for corruption after the December 1983 coup.
