Marketers Lament As Cooking Gas Demand Crashes

It was marketers’ doom as Wednesday saw the demand for Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) popularly known as cooking gas dropped to a record low across the country.

The consecutive market report gathered on Tuesday showed that consumers had lately either reduced consumption or ditched the commodity for cheaper alternatives such as coal and firewood.

President, Nigerian Gas Association, Ed Ubong, said during a downstream event in Lagos that national annual consumption was currently between 1.3mn and 1.5mn metric tons from the Federal Government’s annual target of 5mn metric tons.

The Sporting fashion company, Nike has announced its fresh plans about not renew licensing agreements in Russia. The company made these announcements on Wednesday while joining a growing list of Western companies pulling back from the country following the Ukraine invasion of Ukraine.

Mozambique Attacks Sees Beheading Of Three Indigenes

As the spate of insurgency and Islamist violence rises in northern Mozambique, at least three people have been beheaded in a new outbreak, the police reported on Wednesday.

“Last Friday, terrorists invaded some farms in the first village in Macomia district and beheaded three citizens and kidnapped some women,” provincial police chief Vicente Chicote told AFP.

“After that, they went to another farm where they beheaded more people,” he added.

On Sunday, the insurgents attacked the village of Chicomo, where a gunbattle broke out with military forces there, Chicote said.

Suspected Cultists Nabbed In Ogun – Police Report

The Ogun State Police division in Ogun State on Tuesday has nabbed and detained four suspected members of the Eiye cult group for causing mayhem in the State.

They were nabbed while holding a nocturnal meeting “in preparation for an attack to be launched on members of another cult group.”

The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, identified the suspects as Oriyomi Bankole (a.k.a Ortom), Odedina Sodiq, Shofola Ayodeji and Adelawa Ayo.
