Boat Mishap: HYPPADEC Presents Live Jackets To Sokoto Community

The Garin Magana community in Shagari Local Government Area (LGA), of Sokoto State, where 29 teenagers recently lost their lives in a boat mishap, on Wednesday received a donation of life jackets.

The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), presented the life jackets to leaders of the Garin Magana community.

Group Wants Nigerians In Diaspora To Vote At Country’s Elections

A Nigerian group in the diaspora, Chibuike Rotimi Amechi (CRA) Move Up Campaign USA/Canada, has called for legislation that will allow Nigerians living abroad to vote in the country’s elections.

The Director General of the group, Mr Joe Korka-Waadah, made the call on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, when the group paid the Rivers Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emeka Beke, a courtesy call.

Korka-Waadah said the group was very concerned and disappointed that Nigerians living abroad were currently denied the right to participate in voting for candidates of their choice during elections in the country.

The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD) says it will continue to ensure that all mineral title holders fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)to their host mining communities.

Dr Vivian Okono, the Director, Mines and Environmental Compliance Department, MMSD said this in an interview on Tuesday in Abuja.
