Ukraine: Russia Makes Revelations On Use Of Nuclear Weapons

The Russian authorities have expressly assured that the use of tactical nuclear weapons will not be tolerated in the ongoing war against Ukraine.

Russia’s Ambassador to Britain, Andrei Kelin, gave the assurance during an interview with BBC.

Kelin said Russia has a strict code, adding that its military doesn’t use such weapons in conflicts such as the ongoing war with Ukraine.

He said Russia would only use nuclear weapons when “the state’s existence is threatened.”

“It has nothing to do with the current operation,” Kelin said.

In a coordinated crack operation which involved officials of the International Police (INTERPOL) and some local security forces, three Nigerians have been nabbed over alleged global scam.

The trio were arrested in a sting operation conducted simultaneously in a Lagos suburb, Ajegunle and in Benin City, 300 km to the East of the commercial capital.

The conflicts between Ukraine and Russia seems not to be seeing an end anytime soon as the Russian military on Tuesday said it has found the bodies of 152 Ukrainian fighters in the underground bunkers of the Azovstal steelworks it captured in Mariupol earlier this month after a protracted siege.

Russian Defence Ministry spokesman, Igor Konashenkov in Moscow said, “152 bodies of fallen fighters and soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces were stored in a container with no longer functioning refrigeration.’’

Over 100 Dead As Gold Miners Clash In Chad

No fewer than 100 people have been confirmed dead following clashes between gold miners in northern Chad, Defence Minister General Daoud Yaya Brahim have disclosed.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that violence broke out on May 23 at Kouri Bougoudi near the Libyan border, sparked by a ‘mundane dispute between two people which degenerated’, he noted adding that the toll was “around 100 dead and at least 40 wounded.’

US Calls On Iran To Release Seized Tankers, Crew

The United States joined Athens yesterday condemned in strong terms, Iran’s seizure of two Greek-flagged oil tankers in Gulf waters while also demanding their immediate release, calling the abductions a ‘threat to maritime security.’

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias agreed in a call ‘that Iran must immediately release the seized vessels, their cargoes, and their crews,’ State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.

‘Iran’s continued harassment of vessels and interference with navigational rights and freedoms are a threat to maritime security and the global economy,’ Price added.
