UN Report: 500 Medium-To-Large-Scale Disasters Occur Yearly

A United Nations (UN) report has revealed that between 350 and 500 medium-to-large-scale disasters occurred very year over the past two decades.

The Police Command in Osun has arrested a hunter, who allegedly shot and killed the 78-year-old Imam of Alaguntan village in Orile-Owu, Aiyedaade Local Government Area, whom he mistook for antelope.

AIB-N Releases 4 Reports On Serious Incidents, Accidents

The Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N), has released four preliminary reports on serious incidents and accidents involving aircraft owned and operated by some Nigerian airlines.

The airlines included United Nigeria Airlines Limited, Max Air, Air Peace and the Nigerian Police Air Wing.

The bureau’s General Manager, Public Relations, Mr Tunji Oketunbi, disclosed this in a statement in Lagos, on Tuesday.

The Federal Government has approved the installation of two kilowatts of solar power at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, to improve power supply at the institute.

Ikeja Electric Plc says it is offering customers a one-day metering initiative where they can complete their Know Your Customer (KYC) and get metered in 24 hours.

The electricity Distribution Company said the move was part of its efforts to accelerate installation of prepaid meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, on Tuesday inaugurated a befitting official accommodation for the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of Army Headquarters Garrison at Mogadishu cantonment in Abuja.

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank(AfDB) has approved two loans amounting to $180 million to co-finance a major energy project that will extend electricity access to rural areas and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Rwanda.

This follows the 26 May 2021 approval for $84.2 million from the resources of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the Bank Group, for the same project.
