Shock As Euro Falls Below $1.10 For First Time Since 2020

The euro on Friday sank close to a two-year low under $1.10 as the Ukraine conflict continues to cloud the eurozone’s economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic which it is still trying to recover from.

The European single currency slid in late morning deals to $1.0992, the lowest level since May 2020, as the greenback benefited also from its status as a haven investment.

NATO allies on Friday rejected Ukraine’s demand for no-fly zones reiterating that they were increasing support but that stepping in directly would lead to a broader, even more brutal European war which would not be safe for anyone.

5 Soldiers Killed As Helicopter Crashes In Romania

A helicopter crash was on Wednesday reported in eastern Romania, close to the Black Sea, killing at least five soldiers who were on board the aircraft.

The spokesman of the Ministry of National Defence of Romania, Gen Constantin Spanu, confirming the crash, saying, ‘All five members of the IAR 330 crew lost their lives.’

Gen. Spanu further revealed that a search and rescue operation for the pilot of the MiG 21 LanceR was still ongoing.

It was reported that the IAR 330-Puma helicopter crashed in the area of Gura Dobrogei, 11 kilometres (seven miles) from the airfield on Wednesday.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has explained that one of the major reasons why modular refineries in Nigeria were not producing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, was because of the regulated pump price of PMS by government.

A modular refinery is a simplified refinery that requires significantly less capital investment than traditional full-scale refineries. They are crude oil processing facilities with capacities of up to 30,000 barrels per day.
