12,000 Displaced As Floods Hit Malaysia

Heavy floods has taken several parts of Malaysia after the country was hit by bouts of bad weather over the weekend, even as continuous rain swamped towns on the peninsula’s east coast.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the tropical Southeast Asian nation is now witnessing heavy crisis after the floods displaced thousands from their homes.

Malaysia often experiences stormy weather at this time of year, with seasonal flooding regularly causing mass evacuations.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on Saturday paid a visit to his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo where he told youths who are intrested in becoming the next President of the country to step into the ring and compete.

Atiku who arrived at the Pent House residence of Obasanjo inside the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Abeokuta, around 10:00a.m, went straight into the arena where he held a closed door meeting with the former president.

ISWAP Attacks Chibok, Kills Three, Injures Many

A traditional ruler’s son and two internally displaced persons hosted in Kautikari village of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State were among those killed following a fresh invasion of the village by fighters of the Islamic State for West African Province, ISWAP.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered from locals who fled the village that the name of the traditional ruler’s son is Mr Bulama Wadir.

Recall that Kautikari was attacked in December 2021 and January 2022 where women and children were taken. Also, a church in the community was razed by the insurgents during the attacks.

Chelsea Owner, Abramovich Hands Over Club To ‘Trustees’

Chelsea Football Club owner, Roman Abramovich on Saturday handed over the affairs of the club to trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation following last week’s Russian invasion of Ukraine which has drawn heavy European sanctions.

The UK had on Thursday began issuing heavy sanctions against Russian entities after the invasion of Ukraine.

Mr Abramovich is a Russian oligarch, one of the groups targeted by western sanctions.

There had been uncertainty over Mr Abramovich’s continued control of one of the UK’s most successful clubs amid the crisis.
