Gunmen Attack Police Headquarters In Abia, Kill Inspector

Gunmen in their numbers in the early hours of today invaded the headquarters of Abia State Police Command in Umuahia the state capital, killing an Inspector of police in the process.

According to a reliable eyewitness who chose anonymity, the Inspector was one of the policemen on guard duty on the road in front of the headquarters.

The gunmen were said to have unsuccessfully attempted to overrun the station, struck around 1am on Monday but were repelled by the superior firepower of the policemen on duty.

A section of a shopping complex at the popular Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos was gutted a fire that destroyed goods worth millions of naira.

64 Million Telephone Lines Disconnected Amid SIM–NIN Linkage

A total of 63.97 million lines were disconnected in one year amid the National Identity Number (NIN)-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) data verification, data obtained from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has shown.

The NCC data revealed that the total number of connected lines in the country fell by 21.79 percent to 229,582,206 in October this year from 293,554,598 in October 2020.

Within the period under review, the number of connected lines was highest in August 2021 (328,114,538) and lowest in September 2021 (229,467,077).
