Moroccan Court Approves Uyghur’s Deportation To China

An appeal court in Morocco’s capital city of Casablanca on Thursday approved the deportation of a Muslim Uyghur activist to China despite strong fears that he would be tortured in the Asian country over his beliefs.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Amnesty International has warned that 33-year-old computer engineer Idris Hasan is at ‘grave risk of facing torture’ in China.

The 33-year-old computer engineer was arrested sometime in July this year at his arrival at Mohammed V international airport in Casablanca from Turkey, where he lives and works.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday in Abuja claimed that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot return to power should a free and fair election in 2023.

Lassa Fever: 434 Cases, 80 Deaths Recorded In 2021 – NCDC

The statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have revealed that 434 cases of Lassa fever have been recorded in Nigeria in 2021.

According to NCDC’s recent Lassa Fever situation report which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, no fewer than 80 persons were confirmed to have died of the disease this year.

The states affected by the infections include Edo (192), Ondo (150), Taraba (21), Ebonyi (17), Bauchi (15), Benue (8), Plateau (8), Kaduna (7), Enugu (5), Nasarawa (3), Kogi (3), Cross River (1),  Imo (1), Anambra (1), Delta (1), and Abia (1).

Controversial Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has explained why he feels bandits were pushed to start killing their victims.

Gumi said bandits were out to avenge the killing of their family members by the military through airstrikes.

The Nigerian Senate, on Thursday, approved $5,803,364,553.50 and a grant component of $10 million under the 2018-2020 External Borrowing (Rolling) plan for the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The approval followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts.

Chairman of the Committee, Clifford Ordia, in his presentation, said the $2,300,000,000 would be sourced from the World Bank, $2,300,000,000 from the German Consortium, $90,000,000 from the Islamic Development, 786,382,967 from the China Exim Bank, $276,981,586.50 from the Bank of China, and $50,000,000 from the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has uncovered an additional $72, 870,000 million linked to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The sum was said to have been discovered in an account domiciled in Fidelity Bank Plc.

Consequently, a former Managing Director of the bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, has been arrested.
