Death Toll In Kenya Bus Accident Climbs To 31

Divers recovered seven more bodies Sunday from a bus that was swept off a bridge by a flooding river in Kenya, bringing the death toll from the tragedy to over 30.

The bus was taking a church choir and other travellers to a wedding in Kitui County on Saturday when it keeled over and sank beneath fast-flowing waters as the driver tried to navigate a submerged bridge.

No fewer than two officers and five soldiers were killed yesterday when operatives of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) engaged Boko Haram (BH) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists who infiltrated Kala Balge town in Borno State in a gun duel.

Speaking to newsmen, Army spokesman, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, explained that three other members of the Sector 1 Joint Task Force(JTF) North East(NE), were injured in the attack.

‘Regrettably, two officers and five soldiers paid the supreme price, while three personnel who sustained gunshot wounds are currently receiving medical attention,‘ the spokesman stated.

UK Adds Nigeria To Red List Over Omicron Fears

The United Kingdom has disclosed that Nigeria has been added to its red list category as it looks to tighten travel restrictions in an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 variant, Omicron.

‘From 0400 on Monday 6 December, Nigeria will be added to the red list for entering England,’ the UK government’s travel advisory on Nigeria said.

This means Nigerians who do not have UK citizenship or residence permit can no longer travel to the country until the advisory is revised.

The rule applies to even fully vaccinated persons.

No fewer than four people were killed yesterday, while some persons sustained injuries in an attack by bandits on Dugara, Daurawa, and Gidan Gadi villages, all in Matazu local Government of Katsina State.

According to residents, the incident occurred at about 10 pm on Friday,

Usman Ibrahim, a resident of Yarkirya village, who spoke to reporters said the bandits invaded the villages with dangerous weapons and destroyed several houses during the attacks.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer officer in Katsina, said they were not aware of the attack.
