Former Nigeria’s President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has berated a leader of the Ijaw nation, Chief Edwin Clark, over his recent claim that oil in the Niger Delta belongs to the region and not to Nigeria.

He posited that Clark’s ownership claim amounted to having two sovereign entities within a state, which is impossible in any clime no matter the conditions.

The Governor of Kastina State, Aminu Bello Masari has gone against the position of the Northern Governors’ Forum that power rotation is unconstitutional, maintaining that power should shift to the southern part of the country come 2023.

The Governor stressed that shifting power to the south does not in any way violate the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as earlier posited by the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum after a meeting of the Governors in Kaduna on 27 September 2021.
