Apple yesterday sued the Israeli spyware maker at the center of the Pegasus surveillance scandal, seeking to block NSO Group from targeting the over one billion iPhones presently in circulation.

The suit from the Silicon Valley giant adds to the trouble facing embattled NSO, which was soaked in controversy over reports that tens of thousands of activists, journalists, and politicians were listed as potential targets of its Pegasus spyware.

US authorities just weeks ago blacklisted NSO to restrict exports from American groups over allegations the Israel firm ‘enabled foreign governments to conduct transnational repression.’

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Wednesday revealed that it had received no fewer than 158 fresh Nigerian returnees from Libya through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Farinloye said the returnees, who had been stranded in Libya, departed Mitiga International Airport, Tripoli, aboard a chartered Buraq Aircraft Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG.

He said that they arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 5. 47 p.m.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Wednesday, warned the Federal Government not to go on with fresh plans of giving approvals for the creation of new universities in the country.

The ban on the operation and sale of motorcycles in Niger State has allegedly forced over 10,000 commercial Okada operators to flee the state, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane has confirmed.
