Anambra Poll: US Threatens Visa Restriction On Troublemakers

The United States government has disclosed that it would closely monitor Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State.

It threatened to apply sanctions and visa restrictions on those behind violence during and after the election.

The US Embassy, in a statement on Wednesday, said the visa restrictions would be extended to family members of those who perpetrate violence.

‘We Will Not Support Any Bill To Legalise Marijuana’ – Reps

The House of Representatives has revealed that it will not support any bill that seeks to legalise marijuana in Nigeria no matter the pressure.

This was made known by the Chairman of the House Committee on Narcotics, Francis Agbo, when the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa appeared before the committee for budget defence.

Agbo stated the committee is considering an amendment to the NDLEA bill to ensure adequate funding for the agency.

Unknown Gunmen Kill 2 Policemen In Rivers

No fewer than two personnel of the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have been shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the policemen were attached to Diobu Mile 1 Division, and were reportedly shot dead during a stop-and-search operation at Okija Street in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday night.

PanArewa socio-political group, Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has rejected calls for special treatment and trial for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
