The Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide has carpeted the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, for not doing enough to protect the interest of the Niger Delta region in the ₦621.2 billion road projects to be undertaken across the country by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The IYC in a statement signed on Wednesday by its President, Peter Timothy Igbifa, said the youths would not rest until Sylva took expected steps to remedy the injustice done to the region in the distribution of the 21 road projects.

Charles Soludo, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Anambra has thanked the people for his victory.

On Wednesday, the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) gave a victory speech following the results declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ahead of the 4 December Presidential election in the Gambia, Africa Daily News, New York has learnt that campaign activities have officially started officially in the West African country.

On Saturday, the electoral commission approved six candidates to run for the number one office in the country.

Those standing include incumbent Adama Barrow, the main opposition leader Ousainou Darboe of the United Democratic Party and Essa Faal, who was the chief counsel of Gambia’s Truth Commission that investigated human rights abuses allegedly committed under former president Yahya Jammeh.

A Sudanese court ruled on Tuesday that internet services cut during a military coup more than two weeks ago must be restored, a lawyer has disclosed.

However, the country remained largely offline early Tuesday, despite the court’s directive to internet service providers.

A lawyer who was identified as Abdelazim Hassan while speaking to reporters said, ‘The ruling by Khartoum district court ordered internet services to be resumed immediately’.

The case was brought by a group of lawyers and the Sudanese consumers protection society, he said, adding that the court had also ruled services should run during a possible appeals process.…

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Prof Chukwuma Soludo as governor-elect of Anambra State.

Professor Florence Obi, Returning Officer of the election, made the declaration at exactly 1;50am on Wednesday.

She said Soludo scored the highest number of votes cast and certified all the requirements of being declared the winner.

A political pressure group known as the PDP Renaissance Movement has called on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to run the 2023 Presidency.

The group made the call in Calabar, the Cross River State capital on Tuesday, when they met with journalists, pointing out that going by the antecedents of the governor, he has what it takes to drive the country to economic and political stability and growth.
