Nigerian Flights to Dubai Still On Hold – Emirates Airlines

Notwithstanding the lifting of the suspension of the ban on flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) into Nigeria by the Federal Government, Emirates Airlines has revealed that flight operations are still on hold while also adding that affected flight bookings have been cancelled.

The airline took to its website on Monday to write: ‘Affected flight bookings have been cancelled. If your flight has been cancelled or impacted by route suspensions due to COVID 19 restrictions, you don’t need to call us immediately for rebooking.

The Federal Government has directed the Nigeria Customs Service to ground 91 private jets belonging to some wealthy Nigerians over their alleged refusal to pay import duties running to over ₦30bn, documents obtained by Africa Daily News, New York have revealed.

As such, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali, (retd.) following a directive from the Presidency, has written a letter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency asking the agencies to ground the affected private jets with immediate effect.

No fewer than 22 people were on Sunday murdered in an attack in a camp for displaced people in Ituri province in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
