The Senator who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the 8th assembly, Ben Murray-Bruce, has lamented that Nigeria is still running an 18th-century economy dependent on crude oil and its turbulent prices insisting that it is not sustainable.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has claimed that the recent crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was orchestrated to bring down his administration and political clout.

Nigeria’s ex-Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has described the direct primary process passed by the National Assembly as the best for political parties if properly carried out.

Civilians Flee As ISWAP Attack Borno Military Base

Suspected fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Saturday night engaged Nigerian troops stationed at a military base in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State in a bloody gun duel forcing civilians in the area to flee.

Some civilians who spoke to newsmen said they sighted the ISWAP fighters in a long convoy of gun trucks along Ngude axis towards Askira, early Saturday morning.

The civilians claimed they reported the movement of the terrorists to security forces but no action was taken before the deadly group stormed Askira town hours later.
