The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Monday revealed what he discussed with Nnamdi Kanu when he visited the IPOB leader in the custody of the Department of State Services (IPOB).

Kalu, in a statement personally signed by him which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, revealed that the IPOB leader was in good health and under proper care.

The former governor of Abia State further disclosed that he spoke with Kanu as a brother and told him the need to consider the consequences of certain actions that he would be taking.

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu from custody.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that Buhari had after a meeting with the Southeast elders a fortnight ago promised to consider a lighter resolution but worried that such would interfere with the principles of separation of power between the Executive and Judiciary.

Israel on Sunday opted to close its borders to foreign tourists and re-authorise the highly criticised cellphone tracking programme in a bid to stop the spread of the newly discovered Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

In a statement on Sunday, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s office explained that the measure would take effect from Sunday evening. It said; ‘The entry of foreign nationals into Israel is banned except for cases approved by a special committee’.
