Chairman of the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited, (IVM), Mr. Innocent Chukwuma has expressed optimism that the company would take over the Africa market in the nearest future.

He made the declaration during a parley with journalists in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Chukwuma said the company was looking ahead to being a producer of vehicles for use in the African continent as a whole, a development he said would reduce pressure on the country’s foreign exchange (forex) demand.

He said he had expanded his scope of production to a wide range of vehicles which include SUVs, wagons, commuter buses, among others.…

The Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Chris Ngige has said that he has not been officially informed that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) wants to embark on strike.

He however assured that the Federal Government would not allow the union embark on the strike as threatened.

Clashes erupted between stranded refugees and Polish border guards at the Polish-Belarusian border on Tuesday as the refugee crisis appears to have worsened.

According to a statement credited to Poland’s Ministry of National Defence (MOD), refugees at the Kuznica border crossing trying to cross into Poland reportedly threw stones at Polish guards, who responded by using water cannon and tear gas.

The MOD said: ‘The migrants attacked our soldiers and guards with stones and are trying to force the fence to get to the Polish territory.

‘Our forces used tear gas to thwart the aggression of migrants.’

No fewer than eleven civilians have been killed in the northwestern Central African Republic following series of bitter fighting between rebels and soldiers, despite a ceasefire in the country, the local prefect disclosed on Tuesday.

According to a prefect of Ouham-Pende who spoke to reporters, rebels ‘infiltrated the weekly market at around 10 am on Sunday’ near Mann, a town about 600 kilometres (370 miles) northwest of Bangui, Dieudonne Yougaina.

The death toll from the explosion which rocked a gas store at Ladipo, Mushin, Lagos on Tuesday has now risen to five.
