Nigeria’s ex-Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has described the direct primary process passed by the National Assembly as the best for political parties if properly carried out.

He, however, cautioned that the controversy generated by the passage of the direct primary process must not be allowed to disrupt the electoral bill.

He spoke with newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 9th memorial prayer for his late father, Olusola Abubakar Saraki, held at the family’s residence, Iloffa Road GRA, Ilorin.

A group, on the auspices of Middle-Belt United Assembly (MBUA), has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, to be able to sanitize his government.

The United States on Saturday warned China over its persistent pressure on Taiwan even as the two powers gird for a hotly awaited summit.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and “expressed concern regarding the PRC’s continued military, diplomatic, and economic pressure against Taiwan,” the department said in a statement.

Nigerian Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has admitted that the threats to Nigeria’s corporate existence are unprecedented and unimagined.

The VP spoke at the weekend during the public presentation of a book authored by retired Major-General Pat Akem-Vingir on Saturday.
