Jonathan Appeals For Peace In Ethiopia

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to combatants in the conflict in Ethiopia to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue in the interest of peace.

Jonathan made the call in a statement titled, ‘Jonathan calls for ceasefire, dialogue in Ethiopia’. The statement was signed by his Special Assistant, Ikechukwu Eze, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, on Monday.

The statement read in part, ‘The former President urged the warring parties to embrace dialogue and negotiations in the interest of the peace in their country and the entire continent.’

Building Collapse: Ogun Mull Jail Term For Erring Officials

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday stated his administration would prepare a law that will recommend jail terms for heads of building control agencies if a building collapses in the state under their watch.

The governor disclosed this during the Treasury Board Meeting on the 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2022 Budget in Abeokuta, the state capital.

He said, ‘I am coming up with a law that will send workers in the building industry to prison. Workers in the agencies responsible for building control are susceptible to taking bribes.

Super Eagles’ Goal Keeper Okoye Joins Watford

Super Eagles shot-stopper, Maduka Okoye has joined English premier league side, Watford FC, the club confirmed on Monday.

Okoye joined the English club from Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.

He was signed on a five-and-a-half-year deal which is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2022, when the transfer window opens.

However, Africa Daily News, New York gathered that Okoye will be loaned back to Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

The transfer fee was undisclosed as at the time of putting pen to paper.
