Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance has garnered more votes than his main challengers in Saturday’s governorship election, winning all the 16 out of 18 local government areas results announced so far by the electoral office INEC. The state has 21 local government areas and the candidates of APC and PDP are the runners-up so far.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is representing Nigeria at the ongoing third Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community Of West African States, ECOWAS, in Accra, Ghana.

A statement on Sunday by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the meeting is aimed at accessing the political situation in the republics of Guinea and Mali following the previous resolutions.

Recall that the VP had on September 16, participated at the 2nd ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit on similar agenda in the same Accra, the capital of Ghana where he stated Nigeria’s position on the activities of the military in Mali.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra election has won six Local Government Areas, in the results declared by INEC.

He won Anaocha, Aguata, Njikoka, Awka South, Onitsha South and Enugu Anambra East.

Since there are 21 LGAs in Anambra, results from 15 LGAs are still being awaited.

Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Andy Uba of the APC are neck and neck in the race for second.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola said many Nigerian presidents are loved by citizens only when they are no longer alive.

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, the President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, has ruled out the possibility of supporting any presidential aspirant who is above the age of 60.

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has asserted that those blaming President Muhammadu Buhari for the rising insecurity in the country are getting it wrong, saying that the president inherited a rotten security system.

The governor, speaking at a national security summit organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja, said that Nigerians should blame the political elite for the country’s insecurity situation.
