Obi Cubana Finally Released After 3 Days In Detention

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to popular socialite Obinna Iyiegbu also known as Obi Cubana.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the Anambra-born club owner, who arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency inJabi, Abuja, around noon on Monday, was released on Thursday evening.

Allegations against the socialite are yet unclear, however, a senior official at the commission disclosed that his case bordered on alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

Ahead of Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, candidates of different political parties on Thursday signed a peace accord in Awka, the state capital.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu was present at the ceremony, which was facilitated by the National Peace Committee.

The National Peace Committee, under the Chairmanship of former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd) and the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Bishop Mathew Kukah, was also present at the ceremony.
