Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday pledged that Nigeria will cut its emissions to net zero by 2060.

The President made the vow in a speech delivered at the COP26 Leaders’ Summit held in Glasgow, Scotland.

He noted that ‘attaining national and global climate change goals will require adequate and sustained technical and financial support to developing countries,’ according to a statement signed by spokesman Garba Shehu which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has assured voters and people of Anambra State that the November 6 governorship election will hold as scheduled even as the candidates are set to sign the Peace Pact today.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that the raid on the home of Justice Mary Odili of the Supreme Court by security operatives is part of a serious plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (PDP) to hijack the 2023 elections.

The party said the raid was an ‘attack’ which it described ‘as horrendous, rascally, irresponsible, completely unjustified,’ adding that ‘it should not be swept under the carpet on the guise of misleading whistleblower operation.’
