The Federal Government of Nigeria is vigorously committed to implementing a comprehensive nationwide transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has stressed.

The Minister, while speaking, Tuesday at the launch of the Digital Switch Over in Kano, explained that the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting became has become very necessary following a treaty signed at a regional radiocommunications workshop at Geneva in 2016.

He explained that the transition over was aimed at ensuring a just, equitable and people oriented information society which would connect undeserved population and remote communities, thereby bridging the digital divide.…

Ikoyi Building: Sanwo-Olu Suspends GM Of Building Agency

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the indefinite suspension of the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Mr. Gbolahan Oki.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that his suspension is coming barely 24 hours after a high-rise building collapsed in the Ikoyi area of the state.

The Governor, in a statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, described the suspension as a ‘first step’ towards finding out ‘what went wrong’ to cause the building collapse.

The State Government is also setting up an independent panel to probe the collapse.

Pfizer again lifted its 2021 profit and revenue outlook on Tuesday, bolstered by the latest surge in Covid-19 vaccinations, including regulatory approvals for boosters and shots for younger populations.

The drugmaker now expects 2.3 billion dosage deliveries of the Covid-19 vaccine in 2021 for the shots jointly produced with Germany’s BioNTech, up 200 million from its previous forecast in July. That will bring total 2021 revenues for the vaccine to $36 billion, from $33.5 billion.

Pfizer said higher forecast 2021 results reflects the boost from the Covid-19 vaccine, as well as the performance of Pfizer’s broader business.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has allayed fears of any hitch in the supply of petroleum products following reports of queues at petrol stations in some parts of the country.

Malam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, NNPC, gave the assurance while speaking at the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) 2021 Strategic International Conference on Tuesday in Lagos.

The South East Revival Group (SERG) on Tuesday demanded the immediate release of Anambra State-born philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, saying he is being targeted because of the November 6 Anambra governorship election.
