Tension As Gunmen Kill 18 In Mosque, Abduct 7 In Niger

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Monday killed no fewer than 18 people at a Mazakuka mosque in Mashegu Local Government Council, Niger State.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the gunmen stormed the mosque in the early hours of Monday when the victims were performing their early morning prayers (Subhi), attacking and killing 18 on the spot after shooting indiscriminately at them.

The attackers reportedly used other dangerous weapons, including machetes and sharp objects, on their victims.

The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba has asked workers across the country to as matter of urgency take the COVID-19 vaccine for a chance to stay alive.

World Bank Blacklists 18 Nigerian Firms For Corruption

The World Bank has blacklisted 18 Nigerian individuals and firms for engaging in corrupt practices, fraud and collusive practices in its 2021 fiscal year 2021, a new report has revealed.

A list of debarred individuals and firms was presented in a new annual report titled World Bank Group Sanctions System FY21.

The debarments were made by the World Bank Sanctions Board, World Bank Chief Suspension and Debarment Officer and the African Development Bank.

The debarments made by AfDB were recognised by World Bank, making the affected firms to be barred under cross-debarment policy.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the adoption of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and its underlying technology, called blockchain, can increase Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, by $29 billion over the next 10 years.
