Southwest Security: Makinde, Five Govs Meet Tinubu

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, alongside the five other governors of the Southwest, converged in Lagos State on Tuesday to discuss issues that affect the region.

Olaniyan, who represented Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State governor, was joined by Governors Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Kayode Fayemi ((Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun and the host, Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).

This was disclosed in a statement by Seye Ajagbe, the media officer to the Deputy Governor on Wednesday morning.

Osinbajo Presides Over Virtual FEC Meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) anchored from the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Osinbajo took charge since President Muhammadu Buhari is away in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the investment conference organised by the Future Investment Initiative Institute.

The president will also perform the lesser Hajj in Madina and Makka before returning to Nigeria on Friday.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President; and Ade Ipaye, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, attended the meeting physically.

Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Tuesday, declared that neither the President Muhammadu Buhari nor his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), can solve the problems facing the country.

The Nigerian Senate Committee on Water Resources on Tuesday disclosed that it has uncovered no fewer than 400 abandoned water projects responsible for the incessant acute water scarcity across the country.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, Senator Bello Mandiya who made this known while briefing newsmen after the budget defence by the Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu, said some of the dams were cited where dams cannot even be constructed.
