A crisis is currently brewing after oil was discovered in Evue/Igbighogho bushes in Oviri-Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Africa Daily News, New York learnt that five families including Edariese Efedjamah, Irevwiruemu, George Akanuota, Onakota and Ashe families are claiming ownership of the said land.

Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, on Wednesday reacted to reports by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to shut down Nigeria.

Afenifere said it would not be part of the move to shut down Nigeria for one month.

Speaking exclusively with Africa Daily News, New York, a highly placed Afenifere chieftain, who wished not to be named, said shutting down Nigeria is not part of its agenda.

Dr Ibrahim Liman, the Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service of Nigeria has said the service would withdraw from any State where his men or equipment are attacked during the course of discharging their duties.

The United Kingdom’s National Health Service on Tuesday announced what it described as a ‘life-changing treatment’ for sickle cell disease (SCD).

A statement from the NHS which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York noted that; the discovery ‘Known as Crizanlizumab, the new drug will be delivered by a transfusion drip and works by binding to a protein in the blood cells to prevent the restriction of blood and oxygen supply that lead to a sickle cell crisis’.
