Algerian President Demands ‘Total Respect’ From France

Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday demanded ‘total respect’ from France following a row over visas and critical comments from Paris about the North African country.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that last weekend Algeria recalled its ambassador from Paris while also placing restrictions on French military planes from its airspace, which France regularly uses to reach its forces battling jihadists in the Sahel region to the south.

Suspected Kidnappers Abduct Nursing Mother In Adamawa

A nursing mother has allegedly been abducted by gunmen suspected kidnappers at Ngurore Police Station in Yola local government area of Adamawa State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje made the news public when he spoke to newsmen on Sunday.

2023: Lawmakers Rejecting E-voting For Self-Interest – Jega

The immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, has lashed out at the Nigerian National Assembly for downplaying the importance of the electronic transmission of results in general elections, claiming that federal lawmakers were ignoring the innovation for self-interest.

Jega stressed that the constitutional provision that prohibits the use of technology is a hindrance to electronic voting in the country which he said was cost-effective and easy to deploy.

16 Killed In Russian Parachutists’ Plane Crash

Sixteen people were killed when a plane carrying parachutists crashed in central Russia on Sunday, the emergencies ministry said.

The L-410 plane carrying 22 people crashed around 9:23 am (0623 GMT) near the town of Menzelinsk in the republic of Tatarstan, the ministry said on its Telegram channel.

“Six people were rescued, 16 were taken out without signs of life,” the ministry said.

The ministry had earlier said 15 people died and that the aircraft was carrying 23 people.

While the Menzelinsk club organises skydiving experiences for amateurs it has also hosted championships and training sessions for cosmonauts.
