Suspected Boko Haram terrorists in about ten gun trucks, in the early hours of Saturday, invaded Katarko village, in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

A source, who spoke to Africa Daily News, New York from a hidden place, said the attackers drove into the village in a convoy of gun trucks at about 8am shooting sporadically.

He said troops stationed in the community engaged the attackers.

‘We had to run for our lives,’ he said.

Thousands of refugees and migrants in Libya who have been camped out in front of a United Nations centre in Tripoli for three weeks have begun calling for evacuation from the North-African country in the wake of sweeping raids that saw thousands arrested.

The UN has disclosed that its flights to Mekelle in Ethiopia’s Tigray region have been suspended till further notice after one of its planes had to abort its landing on the same morning as a military airstrike was carried out on the city.

The Ethiopian government said its planes had been targeting a training centre used by Tigrayan rebels.

Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Friday engaged soldiers in a shootout in two different locations in Ayebode and Ilasa communities in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Police spokesman, ASP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, revealed the gunmen abducted three persons during the confrontation.

Abutu stated that the combined forces of the military and the police rescued six other captives from the gunmen.
