Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With Gov Obaseki Emerge

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called for the full implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Programme (NLTP) to address the problem of clashes between farmers and herders.

The governor made the call when he addressed State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Obaseki said that the people of Edo State had resolved that ranching was a private business and should be treated as such.

Motivate Doctors To Slow Down Brain Drain – NMA Urges FG

The Kogi State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called on the Federal Government to show more concern for young doctors in Nigeria and do all within its power to re-motivate them in order to slow down brain drain syndrome that has gripped the profession in the country.

The State NMA chairman, Dr Omakoji Simeon Oyeguh, disclosed this on Wednesday in Lokoja in his address to mark this year’s physicians’ week.

Oyeguh explained that the motivation of doctors by the Federal Government, particularly the Resident Doctors will serve the nation better.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has hinted at the possibility of reaching out to the secessionists for talks in order to find solutions to the insecurity in his state. The governor gave the hint after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Iraq, Syria Militants Entering Afghanistan – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday revealed that battle-hardened militants from Iraq and Syria are ‘actively’ entering Afghanistan.

Speaking in a video conference with security service chiefs of ex-Soviet states, Putin said, ‘The situation in Afghanistan is not easy’.

‘Militants from Iraq, Syria with experience in military operations are actively being drawn there,’ he added.

‘It is possible that terrorists may try to destabilise the situation in neighbouring states,’ he noted, warning that they could even try ‘direct expansion’.
