Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed has again defended recent borrowings by the Federal Government, insisting the country wouldn’t have exited recession had she not borrowed heavily.

She said this on Friday during the Public Presentation and Breakdown of the 2022 Appropriation Bill.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has revealed that stakeholders of the party won’t allow the zoning of key offices in the country to break up the party.

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari over Nigeria’s 2022 budget saying that it is riddled with loans and debts.

In a statement on Thursday, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the publicity secretary, said the opposition had scrutinized the Appropriation bill.

The spokesman noted that though the budget would be Buhari’s last full-year budget, the President failed to take steps to include items that could make him ‘leave office with some element of pride’.
