We Won’t Recognise A Taliban Govt In Afghanistan – Italy

Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Luigi Di Maio has explained why the Taliban government in Afghanistan would not be recognised.

He however, submitted that Afghans should start receiving the financial support that was frozen after the armed group took power last month.

The minister appealed to foreign governments to do whatever it could to prevent a financial collapse there that would result in a massive flow of migrants.

Explaining the reason for its decision, Di Maio said; ‘Recognition of the Taliban government is impossible since there are 17 terrorists among the ministers, and the human rights of women and girls

Eruptions Shut Airport On Canaries Volcanic Island

Clouds of thick black ash from volcanic eruptions in Spain’s Canaries archipelago forced the closure of the airport on La Palma island yesterday Africa Daily News, New York has gathered.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano came to life a week ago and has intermittently spewed out lava and ash leading to the cancellation of all seven flights late Friday.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday visited the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado to reiterate the importance of collaboration between the two countries.

Kagame met with President Nyusi and restated that the conflict in northeastern Mozambique against armed jihadist groups, marked by some successes of joint Mozambican and Rwandan forces, is in a ‘consolidation phase’

Taliban Ban Barbers From Shaving Beards, Playing Music

The Taliban have placed a ban on barbers in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province from shaving men’s beards and playing music in their shops.

In a statement on Sunday which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York, the Taliban-led Department of Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice in the province ordered barbers to comply with the new regulation.

‘From today, shaving beards and playing music in barbershops and public baths is strictly prohibited.’

Bandits on Sunday attacked a joint military base in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing scores of people.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the base located at Dama village is codenamed “Burkusuma camp”.

Sources revealed that the attack happened in the early hours of Friday.

A former chairman of Sabon Birni, Idris Muhammad Gobir, fondly called Danchadi who confirmed the attack, said many security operatives were missing.

Kaduna: PDP Floors APC Again, Wins Kajuru LG Election

Ibrahim Gajere of Peoples Democratic, Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Kajuru Local Government chairmanship election.

The Returning Officer, Dr Ibrahim DanMaraya, announced the results of the election on Sunday.

DanMaraya said Gajere polled 14,432 votes to defeat the immediate past LG Chairman and All Progressives (APC) candidate, Cafra Caino, who scored 9,095 votes.
