Policeman Shoots 18 Year Old Girl in Lagos

An 18-year-old girl has been shot dead by a Policeman attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, Africa Daily News, New York has learnt.
Narrating its own side of the story, the police claimed 18-year-old Monsurat Ojuade, was hit by a stray bullet at the weekend when a team of detectives from SCIID who were on investigation activities to effect the arrest of a robbery suspect in Ijeshatedo area of the State.

Many Killed As Bandits Flee Into Military Camp In Niger

Bandits fleeing from the ongoing military operation in Zamfara and Katsina states met their waterloo in the hands of soldiers at Maganda village near Allawa in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State on Sunday.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the bandits, who were said to be escaping through the notorious Allawa Forest in their hundreds, ran into the military camp stationed at Allawa, and engaged the soldiers in a serious gun battle for several hours.

There is palpable tension in Plateau State following reports that Soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce, maintaining peace in Plateau, allegedly beat a taxi driver, Sadik Abdullahi Karafa, to death.

According to reports, the deceased was reportedly beaten by the soldiers stationed at Paringada Market while returning from Mangu before the curfew hour.

The curfew is from 10 pm to 6 am but Sadik was said to have returned around 9:20 pm.

Abdullahi Karafa, an elder brother of the deceased, narrated how his brother was killed by the soldiers.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ‘direct the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to immediately reverse the apparently unjustified suspension of internet and telecommunication networks in Zamfara State and 13 local government areas of Katsina State’.
